Privacy Policy

Rocky Decodes Calories ("Rocky", "we", "our") is built with your privacy as a core design principle. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

1. Information We Collect

We collect only the minimum information necessary to provide the service:

  • Account information — Your email address and display name when you sign up via email/password or Google OAuth.
  • Meal data — Photos or text descriptions you submit for analysis, and the resulting calorie & macro values returned by AI.
  • Nutrition goals — Your daily calorie target and macro goals that you set during onboarding.
  • Analytics — Aggregated, anonymised usage events via PostHog to help us improve the app. No personally identifiable data is included.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To analyse submitted meal photos or descriptions and return nutrition estimates.
  • To display your daily nutrition summary, meal history, and streak.
  • To personalise progress tracking against your stated goals.
  • To improve Rocky's AI accuracy through anonymised analytics.

3. Data Storage & Security

Your account and meal data are stored securely on Convex (TLS in transit, encrypted at rest). Authentication session tokens are stored exclusively in:

  • iOS — Apple Keychain (hardware-backed, encrypted at rest).
  • Android — EncryptedSharedPreferences backed by Android Keystore.

We never store raw authentication tokens in plain AsyncStorage or unprotected local storage.

4. Third-Party Services

  • Convex — Backend data storage & real-time sync. Privacy Policy.
  • Google OAuth — Optional sign-in provider. Privacy Policy.
  • PostHog — Anonymised product analytics. Privacy Policy.
  • AI Provider — Meal images/descriptions are sent for nutrition analysis and are not retained beyond the duration of each request.

5. Data Retention

Your meal logs are retained as long as your account is active. You may delete your account from the Settings screen at any time, which permanently removes all associated data within 30 days.

6. Children's Privacy

Rocky is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction (GDPR, CCPA, etc.) you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or port your personal data, and to object to or restrict processing. Contact us at vivekquark24@gmail.com to exercise any of these rights.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via in-app notification or email. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

1. Use of Service

Rocky Decodes Calories provides AI-powered nutrition estimates for informational and wellness purposes only. These estimates are not a substitute for professional medical or dietary advice. Always consult a qualified healthcare provider for medical nutrition therapy.

2. Accuracy of Nutrition Data

AI-generated calorie and macro estimates are approximations. Accuracy may vary based on photo quality, portion size, and dish complexity. Rocky makes no warranty that estimates are exact or medically precise.

3. Account Responsibility

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately of any unauthorised use at vivekquark24@gmail.com.

4. Prohibited Conduct

  • Using the app for any unlawful purpose.
  • Attempting to reverse-engineer, scrape, or abuse the AI analysis endpoint.
  • Submitting content that is offensive, harmful, or violates third-party rights.

5. Intellectual Property

All app content, design, code, the Rocky mascot character, and brand assets are the intellectual property of Rocky Decodes and may not be reproduced without written permission.

6. Disclaimer of Warranties

The app is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Rocky Decodes shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the app.

8. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Any disputes shall be resolved under the jurisdiction of courts in India.

Frequently asked questions
Rocky uses an AI vision model. You either take a photo of your meal or describe it in text. The AI identifies the dish, estimates portion sizes, and returns a breakdown of calories, protein, carbs, and fat. Results are approximations and work best with clear, well-lit photos.
Open the app and tap the Settings tab (gear icon). Under "Daily Targets" you can adjust your calorie goal, protein, carbs, and fat targets at any time using the stepper controls. Changes take effect immediately.
Your daily nutrition log resets automatically each day at midnight in your local timezone. Every morning you start with a clean slate. Your streak is maintained as long as you log at least one meal per day.
Your streak counts consecutive days where you logged at least one meal. If you miss a day the streak resets to zero. You can see your current streak, best streak, and a 30-day heatmap in the Streak tab (flame icon).
Yes. Authentication tokens are stored in iOS Keychain or Android Keystore — never in plain storage. Your meal data is stored on Convex's encrypted infrastructure. Analytics are anonymised. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
Account deletion is available by contacting us directly. We will permanently delete all your meal data, nutrition goals, and account information within 30 days of your request.
AI estimates are approximations and may be off for complex dishes, mixed meals, or low-quality photos. For best results use a clear top-down photo with good lighting. You can always add a meal manually by describing it in text instead of scanning. If results are consistently wrong, reach out to us below.
